Sled 45 Narrow Stance Leg Press

Stand on the sled platform with feet close together (narrow stance). Lean back into the angled pad and grip the handles for support. Push the sled upward by extending your legs against resistance. Pause briefly near full extension, then slowly bend your knees to lower. Keep your core engaged and maintain controlled movement throughout.

How to Do the Sled 45 Narrow Stance Leg Press

  1. Sit into the sled leg press with your back and head flat against the pad.
  2. Place your feet close together near the center of the platform, about hip width apart or narrower.
  3. Release the safety handles and press the platform until your knees are nearly locked out.
  4. Slowly bend your knees to lower the platform toward your chest under control.
  5. Stop the descent once your knees approach a 90 degree angle or when your lower back starts to lift off the pad.
  6. Drive through your whole foot to press the platform back up without slamming into lockout.
  7. Perform 3 to 4 sets of 8 to 12 reps, re-engaging the safety handles between sets.

Common Mistakes

  • Feet too high on the platform: Placing feet near the top shifts load to the glutes and hamstrings instead of the quads. Keep them centered for a true narrow stance quad focus.
  • Lower back lifting off the pad: Letting your hips roll up at the bottom means you have gone past your safe range. Stop the descent before your back leaves the pad.
  • Locking out the knees hard: Snapping into full lockout at the top transfers stress to the knee joint. Stop just short of full extension.
  • Feet touching together: An overly narrow stance can strain the knees under heavy load. Keep a small gap between the feet rather than pressing them together.
