Lever Seated Leg Press

The seated leg press machine lets you load the quads and glutes hard without balancing a bar, making it a staple for building leg size safely. The guided lever path and supportive seat remove skill from the equation so you can chase pure effort and volume. It is equally valuable for beginners learning to push and advanced lifters stacking quad work after squats.

How to Do the Lever Seated Leg Press

  1. Adjust the seat so your knees are bent to roughly 90 degrees when your feet rest on the platform.
  2. Place your feet shoulder-width apart, mid-platform, with toes slightly out.
  3. Press your lower back and hips firmly into the seat pad and grip the handles.
  4. Push through your whole foot to extend your legs, exhaling as you press.
  5. Stop just short of locking your knees at full extension.
  6. Bend your knees to return under control until they approach 90 degrees or your depth limit.
  7. Reverse smoothly into the next rep without bouncing or letting the weight stack slam.

Common Mistakes

  • Locking out the knees: slamming into full extension transfers load to the joint instead of the muscle; keep a soft bend at the top.
  • Letting the hips roll off the pad: if your pelvis tucks and lower back rounds at the bottom, you have gone too deep; shorten the range.
  • Pressing through the toes: toe pressing strains the knees and undercuts glute drive; push through mid-foot and heel.
  • Half reps with too much weight: shallow presses inflate the number on the stack while shrinking muscle growth; pick a load you can move through a full range.
