2 To 1 Jump Box

Stand facing a plyometric box with feet shoulder-width apart. Jump explosively onto the box using both feet, landing softly with bent knees. Stabilize briefly, then step down one foot at a time instead of jumping down, alternating the lead foot each repetition. Focus on controlled landings and maintaining balance throughout to develop lower-body power, coordination, and agility.

How to Do the 2 To 1 Jump Box

  1. Stand facing a low box, about one short step away, with feet shoulder-width apart.
  2. Dip into a quarter squat and swing both arms back to load the jump.
  3. Explode upward off both feet, driving the arms forward and up.
  4. In the air, prepare one leg to land while the other stays flexed and out of the way.
  5. Land softly on the middle of the box on one foot, bending the hip, knee, and ankle to absorb force.
  6. Hold the single-leg landing for a beat to prove full control, then stand tall.
  7. Step down carefully with support from both legs and alternate the landing leg each rep or each set.

Common Mistakes

  • Progressing too early: master two-foot box jumps and single-leg balance work first; this drill punishes shaky landing mechanics.
  • Choosing height over control: the box should be low enough that every single-leg landing is quiet and stuck cold.
  • Landing with a stiff leg: a rigid knee on one-foot impact sends force into the joint; fold smoothly through hip and knee.
  • Skipping the pause: bouncing straight off the landing hides poor stability; stick and hold each landing for a full second.
